Miles Sound System SDK 7.2a

Q:

I want a small installation - do I need all of the files in the \redist directories?

A:

No, you only have to use the files that you intend to use. You have to have the main Miles library file (MSS32.DLL under Win32, for example), but the other files are optional.

If you aren't using any of the DSP pipeline filters, then you don't need the MSSDSP.FLT file, for example.

You may not need to include the output filters discussed in the Digital Audio Services Section - if you aren't planning to support a particular matrix or voice-level 3D technology, just don't ship the corresponding FLT file.

The ASI files provide compression and decompression support in Miles. The MSSMP3.ASI file, for example, is the MP3 decoder. The MSSVoice.ASI, file contains the Voxware voice chat codecs. If you don't use one or more of these audio codecs, then you don't need to ship them!
